"The weak exist only to serve the strong"

The ancient city of Mel Shenshir sits on the eastern side of Drianna's vein, overlooking its sister Rathir to the west. Where Rathir is orderly, restrained and relatively peaceful, Mel Shenshir is a city under martial law. There are no guards, no courts and no dungeons (no state ones at least). To survive in the city you must be tough, or willing to pledge your allegiance to those who are. The guilds of Mel Shenshir are little more than gangs, an opinion enforced by their constant turf wars and backhanded scheming. But for this exact reason, in Mel Shenshir one can find the finest warriors and pickpockets not only in Mel Shenshir, but in all Amalur.

To Mel Shenshir's south lies The Sidhe, the largest city of the court of Winter. Unlike their western cousins, the Winter Fae engage with dustlings regularly and take great delight in abusing their general ignorance of Fae culture. To its east lies the massive stretch of desert known as the Fortenmar - a harsh place where one is just as likely to be killed by a sand wurm as a bandit. And so, Mel Shenshir stands as the most civilised part of a land free of civilisation - a deep pit that occasionally throws back the kind of men and women that change the world.
