The Dwarven Capital city south of Rathir, home of the Templar Order.

The Dwarven Templars of Tala Rane are among the most feared mortals in all of Amalur. Not all Dwarves within the city are Templars - many make their livings with more mundane work - but all military, magical, research and experimental work must go through the order.

Tala Rane must always be watchful of Rathir to the north and Mel Shenshir across the coast to the east. Dwarven society has strict social customs - civilians always show respect to those of the Order.

History

Tala Rane was founded in 517, as the base of the new Templar Order, the culmination of the work of Daran Brightsword, descendant of Alain Brightsword, who created the Arcane Divinity to limit and control magical experimentation.

Modern Status

Tala Rane rests as the seat of power of The Templar Order, one of the major powers in Amalur, along with the Federation of Rathir and the Confederacy of Mel Shenshir.

Treatment of Non-Dwarves

Both the Council of Rathir, as well as the Guildpact of Mel Shenshir (and several foreign governments, such as the Khanate of Derem), have criticised the treatment of non-Dwarves in Tala Rane. Humans make up about half of all non-Dwarves in the city, but none of the non-Templar races are considered full citizens (with very rare exceptions).
