Of all the creatures that inhabit the world of Amalur, none are more magical, more powerful or more tragic than the Fae. For untold aeons these elves have repeated their Cycle time and time again - being born, playing their part in Fate, dying and then doing it all over again. Many Fae see this as the pinnacle of existance - this is clear in their disdain for the mortal races (who Fate controls much less), who they call dustlings. Fae stand at around 8 or 9 feet tall, have pointed ears and slender frames. They are divided into two courts, each itself divided into 3 houses.

The Summer court of Fae represents civilisation, order, growth and prosperity. The Fae here are elusive - most mortals have never seen one, and they never will. The Fae of Summer have green skin. The court of Summer is split into 3 houses:

·        The house of Ballads (who preach worship and knowledge)

·        The house of Valor (who preach courage and battle)

·        The house of Seasons (who preach acceptance of the cycle and harmony with nature).

The Winter court of Fae represents martial law, an eye for an eye mentality, greed and anger. The Fae here are more bold - the delight in involving themselves in the issues of the dustlings, though they still look down on them. The Fae of Winter have pale grey skin. The court of Winter is split into 3 houses:

·        The house of Sorrow (who preach acceptance of death and decomposition)

·        The house of Pride (who preach pride, hierarchy and control)

·        The house of Vengeance (who preach hatred of those who insult fate by being mortal, and the court of Summer).

The two courts have been at war since Fate began, and as Fate has decreed, neither of them shall ever triumph over the other. Fae are incredibly powerful magical beings, although many prefer to stick to tried and true methods of combat like archery and swordsmanship. When a Fae dies, they return to Esharra, home of Fate, and wait for cycle to begin anew that they might return and perform their role once more.
