The Siblings of Creation

Blood hunters and blood clerics embody temperance to a greater extent than traditional arcane casters as their disciplines require a great deal more mental fortitude to use effectively. Their conforming to what the Astrophels regard as virtues is guided by the religious teachings disseminated by the older generations. Many in the family believe that Amalur was created by two of the gods in the current pantheon and another that fell. Residing so far from larger pockets of civilization, their religious beliefs deviate from the typical understanding of how the pantheon works and how the gods interacts with each other. This unique belief system serves as a novel source of power for those that keep the story close to their hearts.

There is the common belief between The Astrophels and The Zargraths that Amalur is formed from the very body of an ancient deity by the name of Driana. She is described as one member of the trio named as The Siblings of Creation and is believed to be the sister to Karametra and Kruphix. Driana gave her body to form the very lands of Amalur from the sorrow of seeing the fall of the Drow, shedding a tear to form the mountain range, her translucent life blood flowing from her veins to form the oceans and her ever watchful eye forming the moon looking over the land. Feeling the loss of their beloved sister, Karametra and Kruphix expanded their domains to cover her sacrifice such that it would not be in vain and such that they could express their grief properly. Karametra gave rise to the rich and diverse flora and fauna present throughout the continent, with the dense forest in the lands of The Winter Court housing her most unique creations. Kruphix seeded The Font within The Dark Forest so that those who understood the meaning of Driana’s sacrifice could obtain the power to keep their land pure.

The pilgrimage over Driana's tear became a key portion of worship to the ideal of travel and exploration, both to the Astrophels, and to the general populace of Amalur. Karametra's name became synonymous with agriculture and maintaining the natural beauty of the continent. Driana and her sacrifice is honoured by the Astrophels and the Zargraths in their dedication to combatting the darker forces that so frequently pervade her space. They take the waxing and waning of Driana's eye as a sign that her essence still watches on, regarding the day after a new moon as an important one. This is often a day they will use to make stronger positive impacts on the world, such that when Driana begins to open her eye once again in the form of a waxing crescent, she sees her world in a better state than before.  Ezra Astrophel is one such individual that believes very strongly in the old tales their grandparents told them as a child, so much so that they believe that The Siblings of Creation, Kruphix, Driana and Karametra, represent the Mind, Body and Soul respectively of Amalur. Ezra aligns their acts to protect and embody the spirits of these gods’ respective bailiwicks, believing that acting in this way will allow them to perfect their ability to preserve and protect Amalur.
