Faction: The Watchers

Rhogar is a Paladin who was contracted by Samuel Truestone to seek out The Orb Walkers in the Underdark and deliver a message to them. The Orb Walkers were found whilst they were attempting to reason with the White Dragon Archeon on a bridge leading out of an underground keep. He has remained with the party since this point.

Early Life

Rhogar Demirev was born into the Demirev household in Rathir the son of a fairly well off businessman. His early life was filled with comfort and Rhogar enjoyed more of the finer things of life alongside an education that was considered above average for the standards at the time. As his life progressed and he became of appropriate age a position within his father's company had already been secured ensuring he would walk into a position which would keep his life of comfort available for the rest of his life.

This wasn't enough for him however and he quickly found it boring, lacking any excitement and reliving the same boring day to day routine until he decided that enough was enough. Bringing some of his friends together they decided it would be a good time to travel and experience the rest of the world, they were in their prime after all and working the daily routine was far too sensible an idea for young people to follow. And so one morning they set off, once all the planning and saving had been done to ensure travel in comfort for extended periods, and the journeys of the raucous group began without so much as a hint of trouble or problem to be experienced. This would not last for long though, travelling with that much gold and wealth is sure to attract some unwanted attention. So it was that after a few months of travel they were sprung upon in the dead of night while camping between Gorhart and Odarth by a group of Bandits. Most were captured and those that tried to flee were mercilessly cut down while the others watched in a similar manner to hunting for sport. Their heads were covered and they were brought back to the Bandit camp.

Military Service

After the events of the bandit kidnapping, the death of his family and subsequent escape from captivity the thought of providing protection those who are unable to protect themselves as a form of repentance for his ineptitude and selfish desire began to appeal to him. The basic training was...

The Orb Walkers

Through a series of connections and jobs taken whilst travelling once again, the task was given through an acquaintance to deliver a message to a group of individuals. located in the Underdark. The message was to be delivered verbally to the party indicating the Samuel Truestone was alive and well in Tala Rane. Once the message was delivered the party returned to the Drow in the Underdark to report on progress and then proceeded to head back to Tala Rane.

Akordia and The Well of Souls

The Order Veracious

The return to Tala Rane with Thoradin after the sudden urgency to close the Well of Souls which Akordia was planning on using it was found that a serious change had taken place. With the Election approaching it's peak the propaganda being distributed increased in quantity and, importantly, introduced a rather scathing review of Thoradin, and his superior Tredigar Hackshield, about their handling of certain things including the massacre at Irci which was only recently brought to the attention of the general public. This reached a peak during Thoradin's Octienne promotion ceremony where a terrorist attack with aim of assassinating Thoradin was foiled, though not without some civilian casualties. Information received after a debriefing by Tredigar and the Prefect Maximus himself put a name to the group who cause the attack, The Order Veracious.

With a name given the Orb Walkers set about finding information on The Order by scouring the Archives in the Templar Library. Shortly after the first few days of information accrual the party wandered into a small market square, barren of people save a few individuals blocking the exit. Revealing themselves to be associated with The Order a battle ensued leading to the death of all but 1 of the individuals who was taken back for questioning.

*Add filler from notes as I've forgotten the events between here and demon Ghurrix*

With Ghurrix taken from the party the focus shifted to retrieving the lost party member, the finding of which required help from a Planar being who observed a Rat in a barrel with an event/attack happening on the new years celebrations which occur near the river. The day arrives... tbc

The Exolvuntur Pilgrimage (4-2516-03-16)

After the deal with the broker, the loss of memories and subsequent interrogation by the Templars concerning the events which took place under the city of Tala Rane, Rhogar and Valmet, on a quest of exploration and self peace, began their preparation for a pilgrimage to the Exolvuntur monastery located in Driana's Tear. the preparation began with information collection, gear retrieval and using contacts to hire a guide to assist in travelling up the mountain. Setting off from Tala Rane they made their way to the town of Snowheir, the starting point for their journey up the mountain.

The journey to Snowheir was uneventful with the final portion of the journey placing them in a local tavern where they were to meet their guide up the mountain. Debating about the nature of their guide they notice an individual making their way towards the two of them. Garbed in a teal cape lined with gold, an ornate sheath containing a fancy longsword and vines on their arm that seem to twist and contort, the individual introduces themselves as Ezra, the guide that would take Rhogar and Valmet up the Mountain. The journey begins the next day and the 3 begin to make their way up the mountain, Ezra darting nimbly over the rocks while the two pilgrims try their best to keep up with them. A key message rang from Ezra's forewarning, "Play it safe, play it clean. Remember that the life of the pilgrim is more valuable than the pilgrimage itself."

Weeks pass as the 3 continue up the mountain. A day away from the Destination, Ezra informs them that the head of the monastery is a fate weaver named Dehue Hodnec who finds volunteers to be guided by the monastery using their unique ability. The threat of dragons increases the closer Rhogar and the others get to the monastery, dragons who the god of dragons may be watching over. There is a legend regarding an individual named Gaugith Dragon-Tamer who wrestled a wyrmling, tamed it and earnt their place among the legends. Ezra warned that the one thing we would need to watch out for is a Red Dragon named Glaurang.

Arriving at the monastery they are greeted by a peaceful atmosphere disturbed only by the arguing of 2 individuals; Halfdine who deals the social and internal affairs, and Umer who deals with the protection of the monastery from the outside threats. The argument being over the distribution of budget towards either the renovation of the external pilgrimage paths or the renovation of the internal areas for the individuals who have a more permanent residence in the Monastery. After speaking with Vhen and learning that their next journey is along The Path to the Temple of The Watchers, and with preparations completed overnight, the 3 set off along the path.

The Temple of The Watcher is preceded by 3 shrines with accompanying braziers, each detailing The Story of The Watcher and their deeds done beyond the sight of most mortals, slaying creatures unknown to even the most educated scholars:

The 3 continued through until reaching the final room of the temple where they are confronted by The Red Priestess who initiates the final trail. 2 Red Wyrmlings descend before being swiftly dispatched by the 3 experienced combatants. A brief respite passes before a loud roar is heard and a Red Dragon descends, wreathed in flame with a dark rage burning in their eyes. Gwindor, Daughter of Gurthang, begins her attack, with her corrupted soul fueling the fires of her Mystic Arcanum, providing her with power later found to be gifted by Khnith-Hgor. Vanquishing her yielded a terrible shake in the ground as an entity lands in the Temple, majestic and Golden in colour, Panchrestus as they then introduced themselves.

Panchrestus informed the trio of their completion of the trial. Turning to Rhogar they tell him to speak The Oath of The Watchers, binding to him to a life dedicated to safeguarding the Prime Material Plane and the mortal denizens which reside within it. The Oath requires the following:

  • Vigilance; The threats you face are cunning, powerful, and subversive. Be ever alert for their corruption.
  • Loyalty; Never accept gifts or favors from fiends or those who truck with them. Stay true to your order, your comrades, and your duty.
  • Discipline; You are the shield against the endless terrors that lie beyond the stars. Your blade must be forever sharp and your mind keen to survive what lies beyond.

Information gathered from Panchrestus as the trio asks questions yields the knowledge that Ghurrix is in league with Khnith-Hgor and that Khnith-Hgor is an entity who seeks nothing but the destruction of the world with no desire to rule over it. Barren Lightbearer was also corrupted by the malevolence emanated by the Necronomicon page which was discovered below the city of Tala Rane. With questions answered, Panchrestus flies off and the trio descend the mountain to await further comments from the party. Valmet departs for her indentured servitude in Tala Rane at the Temple of Athreos and Rhogar and Ezra venture over the land to remove outer presence, culminating with an arrival at the remains of The Massacre at Irci along with the area's subsequent cleansing.

The Testimony at Mel Shenshir

Rhogar, along with the remaining Orb Walkers were summoned to Mel Shenshir to meet up and be escorted by a Drow to The Winter Fae in the The Winter Court for the trial of Yestris. Upon arriving in Mel Shensir they meet Rydol, a Drow part of the House of Pride. The journey is detailed in the chronicle "The Whims of The Winter Court" culminating with the defeat of The Whore of Molloch atop the peaks of Fate's End and the destruction of the abomination which they had brought forth to the land, and for vengeance of the many people the creature had slaughtered on it's way to the top to battle with Zah-Hak and the Polymorphed forms of The Orb Walkers.

The Chasing of Ghurrix, the Punished

Once returning from Fate's end they meet with Virgil who informs them that Ghurrix has been detected in a few locations, which they would like the group to investigate. The first location is an external plane lying beyond the reach of the party and, with help from Virgil, they manage to safely pass to and from the plane, retrieving evidence of Ghurrix's activities while there.

Upon return they are able to rest for a few days, fighting Virgil's machines in combat to assess their abilities and ultimately failing. Returning to Virgil he mentions that Ghurrix's last presence was detected in Qa'Rak and he will get them to Mel Shenshir to charter passage to Qa'Rak. The journey to Qa'rak led him to meet the Um'Avi along with a few individuals who had known and trained Ghurrix; Aldhand, Sayne and Riffin. Journeying with them to the center they find themselves face to face with an encampment of devils, preventing demons from breaking through and attempting to help stabilise the incredibly large well which sat at the center. Retrieving The Iron Cauldron from an external, he returns with the Orb Walkers and meets with The Warden, Kathon. Here The Orb Walkers learned of the ritual to stabilise the Well, the massacre of 1000 infants for the grief and sorrow of the parents to feed the Iron Cauldron.

The defense of the Altar was brutal, with the altar almost destroyed the last of the demons were slain. The Hanged King makes their appearance proceeds to draw some symbols on the Altar which doesn't seem to have an impact on the altar immediately, at least as far as the group was aware. Tamag makes their return and brings the party back to the material plan before collapsing from their wounds and trying to recover. Discerning what happened from Kathon the group says their goodbyes at which point Kathon transports them back to Neutral Ground. Here the group splits for a couple of weeks to attend to some matters they have as individuals before meeting up with the others and heading to the Kenku Encampment. During this down time Rhogar spends most of the time training against Virgil's automatons.
